Spoqi

Omegle alternative

Omegle closed on 8 November 2023. If you came here looking for it, it is not coming back — and the reasons it closed are worth knowing before you pick a replacement.

What happened to Omegle

Its founder, Leif K-Brooks, shut it down days after settling A.M. v. Omegle, a case brought by a woman who was matched with an adult man on the site as an eleven-year-old. His closing note did not hide from it: "There can be no honest accounting of Omegle without acknowledging that some people misused it, including to commit unspeakably heinous crimes."

Plenty of sites now use the Omegle name or something close to it. None of them are the original, and a name is not a safety record.

What Spoqi does instead

The parts of Omegle people actually liked were the absence of friction: no account, one stranger at a time, leave whenever you want. Spoqi keeps all three. What is different is what happens while your camera is on.

  • Checked in your browser first. A model runs on your own device and cuts your video within about a second if it sees nudity — before the other person has seen much. Those frames never leave your machine.
  • Checked again on our servers. That is the layer that issues bans, because anything running on somebody's own computer can be modified by them.
  • Reporting that still works after you press next. It shows the last few people you spoke to with a still from each chat so you can point at the right one. Those pictures stay in your browser.
  • Nothing is recorded. No video, no screenshots, no transcript, and no database column that could hold one.

Spoqi is not Omegle. We are a separate, independent service with no affiliation to it, and no connection to whoever runs it. Omegle no longer exists. We name it here because it is what people are looking for when they find this page.

Questions people ask

Is Omegle still working in 2026?
No. Omegle shut down on 8 November 2023 after fourteen years, days after settling a lawsuit brought by a woman who had been matched with an adult man on the site when she was eleven. Sites using the Omegle name today are not the original service.
What is the closest thing to Omegle now?
Anything offering random one-to-one video chat with no account. Spoqi is one: you press a button, you are put on camera with one stranger, and you press next whenever you want. The main difference from Omegle is what is checked while you are on camera.
Is Spoqi free?
Yes, and there is nothing to buy. There are no adverts, no subscription and no paid tier, because there is nothing here to monetise.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email and no profile. We store a random id in a cookie so a banned device stays banned, and nothing else about you.
Is it safe?
Safer than Omegle was, which is a low bar, so here is the specific version. A model runs in your own browser and cuts your camera within about a second if it sees nudity. A second check runs on our servers and is the one that issues bans. Nothing is recorded — no video, no screenshots, no transcript.
