Spoqi

Hay alternative

Hay has a feature Spoqi genuinely does not: real-time translation, so a shared language stops being the thing that ends a conversation. If that is what you are looking for, this page is going to tell you to use Hay.

What Hay has that Spoqi does not

  • Real-time translation. Its own site leads on it. Ours is marked "soon" on the home page, which is where it will stay until it actually works.
  • Filters. Gender, region and shared interests. Spoqi pairs you with whoever has been waiting longest and tells you their country, and that is the whole of it.
  • Native apps. Spoqi is a website. That is a deliberate choice — nothing to install, no app store, no permissions beyond the camera — but it is a difference.

What Spoqi does instead

Both services describe automated moderation. The difference is where the first pass runs: Spoqi's is in your own browser, on frames that have not been transmitted, and it cuts the outgoing video in about a second. A server-side check follows and is the one that issues bans.

And nothing is recorded — no video, no screenshots, no transcript — which is the trade for having no account, no profile and no filters worth the name.

Spoqi is not Hay. We are a separate, independent service with no affiliation to it, and no connection to whoever runs it. We name it here because it is what people are looking for when they find this page.

Questions people ask

What is Hay?
A random video chat service available as apps and in a browser. Its own site describes random video and text chat, real-time translation, AI moderation, and filters that match on gender, region and shared interests.
Does Spoqi translate messages?
Not yet. Automatic translation of the text chat is something we intend to add and it is marked as coming on our home page rather than listed as a feature. If translation is what you want today, Hay has it and Spoqi does not.
Does Spoqi have gender or region filters?
No. You are paired with whoever has been waiting longest, and shown which country they are connecting from. Filters worth having need accounts, and Spoqi has none.
Then what is the argument for Spoqi?
The check runs on your own device before anything is transmitted, nothing is recorded at any point, and there is no account, no profile and nothing stored about you beyond a random id.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Spoqi runs in the browser on a phone or a computer.
